Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is a form of creative psychotherapeutic tool employed to support the integration and healing of individuals and groups. This therapeutic form seeks to bring about integration within the physical, cognitive, social and emotional aspects of self. DMT sessions are conducted within a safe space facilitated by a trained dance movement therapist. Props such as clothes and music are often used to support expressions and to engage in symbolic play within a DMT group. DMT has its wide applications in mental health, special needs, and rehabilitative settings.
In this workshop cum sharing session, participants will be guided through an experiential session to experience the relationship between bodily movements and self-expressions. Participants will also be given tips on how aspects of DMT can be applied in social work and community settings.
